No, seriously. We made this site to make money to pay rent so that we can afford to go to anime conventions. That being said, this site was designed to help cosplayers. Yes, it’s also helping us pay rent, but any extra money we make is usually spent on cosplay anyway, so it is, in fact, helping cosplayers.
Anyway, our idea with this site came about when we were picking out our costumes for Otakon 2009. We decided that since we had several years experience with cosplay (and since we are both near-perfectionists when it comes to our costumes) that we might benefit from helping other cosplayers. So we came up with the idea of having a custom cosplay site, focused on the little details that many cosplayers tend to overlook.
Lets face it: after spending numerous hours and hundreds of dollars working on one‘s outfit, most of us would prefer to buy the shoes that are cheaper instead of the ones that are more accurate. But we made one important discovery along this annoying and tedious path: the more time you spend hunting, the more likely you are to find something closer to what you need for less money. However, no one wants to go to twelve different consignment shops in addition to searching online and carousing Walmart, Marshalls and Ross. It’s boring. It’s frustrating.
It’s how we find our favorite cosplay accessories.
So we decided, upon realizing (and reluctantly accepting) that our bank accounts were empty and we were paying for Otakon expenses with various credit cards, that it might be a good idea to offer our services to -- and thus benefit from -- other cosplayers. In other words, we do all the looking for you. Or, if we can’t find whatever it is that you’re looking for, we’ll make it (when we‘re making the outfits for profit, that is!). It certainly doesn’t hurt that most of the cosplay sites out there don’t offer custom pieces, just those that are pre-made, and that the custom sites are either way out of my (and therefore, conceivably, your) price range, or that I find them to be inaccurate. Even if you have everything except for one piece of your costume, come to us and we will either find or make that one piece for you. There’s no job too big or too small for us (we are bored college students with no money, after all), and we think that you’ll be very satisfied with the results.
